Hey y’all….I missed you! It’s been a while but I am here and excited to share with y’all our amazing 3 night stay in paradise-Turks and Caicos Islands. It was a mini getaway for the hubby’s birthday. Being that we spent all of our days on Grace Bay beach as well as Taylor Bay, I mostly have beach pictures to share with y’all, but do not worry, I come bearing hotel, activities and restaurant recommendations. In general, Turks and Caicos is relatively more expensive compared to other Caribbean countries we have ever visited so renting a car was with it being that taxi fares are really high. Fyi, they drive on the right hand side but the hubby didn’t mind at all. If anything at all, he was very excited to explore the island.
Where We Stayed; For the first time, we rented a condo right by Grace Bay beach from Carpe Diem Luxury Condominiums. We were skeptical at first being that it was our first time renting out a condo while on vacation. But we have no regrets here, because if felt like our home away from home. It is right in the center of everything, a 5 minute walk to the beach and super close to the restaurants, bars and grocery stores. (yes you will be needing a few items from the grocery store while on this island even if you live in a resort). Security is often our biggest concern when we travel, but our condo was in a gated community which only allowed residents to go in and out. Carpe Diem provided our beach chairs, umbrellas and a cooler which we thought was oh so convenient. It is also right next to the Regent Grand Hotel, which we absolutely loved based on pictures and residents we met living there. However, if a private condo isn’t your cup of tea, any resort on Grace Bay beach will do but be sure to read reviews on TripAdvisor and Yelp. Here are a few that we may consider in the future, Seven Stars or Regent Grand Hotel. I wouldn’t recommend you to stay in an all-inclusive, even though there are but a few. The food in Turks is amazing and you wouldn’t want to miss out on that while staying in an AI.
Let me tell you this, I loooooove food and when I say the food on this island is amazing, it really is.
Restaurants we tried and loved are;
Coco Bistro; for the hubby’s birthday dinner.
Melt; An amazing dessert shop/cafe with great service from the owner herself. Enjoy a delicious dessert with free fun entertainment.
Da Conch Shark; Hands down our favorite. A local restaurant with lots of tourist traffic but with good reason because the food is that amazing. I didn’t try the conch while on the island because I am allergic to shellfish, but their jerk chicken and fish tacos surely gave me foodgasm.
Infinity Bar; Nice lounge area with a dj/live band. Drinks are good and the music got us dancing.
Danny Bouys Bar; This is where we found a nice mix of locals and tourist. It is more like a sports bar but on Saturday nights, the dj will get you on your feet.
Bugaloos; We decided to check it out after others recommended it . We were very disappointed here. The food was mediocre and we only wished they had more on their menu besides conch and hamburgers. If you like conch, you may like this one. Their live band on Sundays is amazing though.
There are so many great restaurants on this island, it was so hard for us to not visit all of them. We will be sure to check out more on our next trip there.
We didn’t engage in a lot of activities or tours but we couldn’t resist parasailing in paradise. We did this activity with SkyPilot. They were very professional and also offered to take our pictures.
Here on Taylor Bay. the water is very calm and shallow, you could go far deep into the water and the water would probably not go past your waist. It was great for non swimmers like us.
